Installation FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Answers to common installation and troubleshooting questions
1) Can I sync data from my BlackBerry to my desktop?
No. However you can sync your data to the MileageTracker Pro web site at
www.mileagetrackerpro.net. From the web site you can create mileage claim reports quickly in PDF format, or export data to .CSV format which can be used in a spreadsheet for further organizing, printing or saving on your computer.
2) When syncing I get "Error 400", "Malformed" or "Could not open tunnel"
There is a problem with either your carrier's WAP Gateway or their firewall.
Under
Preferences -->
Network Options please select "RIM Public BIS" from the list and try syncing again.
3) On my BlackBerry when I sync I get the error message: "The application (Application name) has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy."
As a security feature, the RIM Operating System will not let you use a WAP connection and the BES connection (or a "split-pipe" connection) for the same application.
Please refer to
BlackBerry Support to resolve this issue.
4) On my BlackBerry I get the error message: "No system software found" or "No additional applications for your handheld were found"
Make sure you unzip all the files to the same directory, including the .alx file, before trying to install using the RIM Desktop Manager.
5) I have tried selecting "RIM Public BIS", but I still cannot get syncing working.

6) When syncing I get the error "Could not find a service book entry for IPPP"
When using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), Mobile Data Service (MDS) must be enabled for your account. Please talk to your BES server administrator (IT Administrator).
7) When syncing I get asked permission for network access repeatedly, how do I turn this off?
When the access dialog comes up, select the "Always allow this connection" option.
